The loading dock is one of the areas most prone to accidents and hazards. The possibility of falls, collisions in high-traffic areas, dangers to pedestrian staff, and more make loading dock safety a critical priority for any warehouse owner or manager. Data published in Industrial Safety and Hygiene News indicates that 25 percent of all warehouse accidents occur at the loading dock and for every accident, there are about 600 close calls and near misses. OSHA Regulation 1910.23(b) specifically discusses the importance of loading dock safety, saying that employees should “slow down, watch out for others, and be aware of the edge of the dock”. With proper dock protection equipment, operators can be kept safe from a myriad of dangers resulting in injuries, equipment damage and productivity slow-downs.

Safety Gates

Available in both automated and manual varieties, safety gate systems restrict or allow vehicles and pedestrians access to high-traffic areas when it’s clear and safe for occupancy. They are physical barriers that protect your personnel and your inventory from falls and collisions. These gates can be outfitted with motion sensors to detect pedestrian or vehicle movement or offer a classic swing-gate design, depending on your needs and budget. Overhead Door Track Protectors

These protectors offer a visual and physical presence that allows vehicles to see them from far distances. They come in bright colors, are made of heavy-duty steel and are usually bolted directly to door tracks to prevent collisions and accidents at key loading dock entry points. They’re a cost-effective means of adding an extra layer of protection:

• Available with or without safety bevel and baseplate.
• Standard duty for fork truck and commercial applications.
• Available in full 7″ depth, up to 14”.

Heavy-Duty Guardrail

Guardrails should be installed in every potentially dangerous area of your facility, especially your loading dock. The average size loading dock measures between 48” to 52” tall and requires guardrails that can withstand an impact force of at least 200 pounds, per OSHA regulations.

Dock Stop HD

Dock Stop HD prevents forklifts from falling off of docks. It includes two rotating arms and locking slide bars with a locking pin as well as built-in light levers so that the arms meet in the middle every time. Dock Stop HD is powder-coated in safety yellow and includes reflective “Stop” signs.
