Get It Done, Get It Done Right, & Meet The Customer’s Timelines

Like any Marine, Chris has a set objective, “To ensure I am always available to my customers.” Here is how he makes that happen…

I take a very hands-on approach. I am always on-site when installation begins –no matter how big or small the project. Schedules are created to meet customer deadlines which sometimes means stretching over weekends. 

TSE is unique in this industry because it’s not a selling process. A sales process focuses on getting a customer to buy, which is how many larger companies approach it. WOI is a partnership with customers. We treat new and existing customers equally and won’t leave until they are happy with the results.

Project Work Always Goes Smoothly, Except When It Doesn’t

WOI does a lot of projects, and each is unique. We deal with challenges on most, if not all, and that is part of what makes the job interesting. We devise creative solutions to issues raised during the planning and unforeseen ones that arrive during installation. Working around existing customer work areas is always challenging, but we find a way.

Because WOI employs a team of professional rack installers, we can collaborate with them to carefully plan the project details and timing. It’s my job to go to the customer with our warehouse solutions plan and usually a fallback option. We let the customer decide which option works best for them. We offer costs and timelines to help them make the best choice for their operation.

Going Over & Above – Literally

When asked to recall an “interesting” warehouse solutions project, the memories flooded back… picture this:

Georgia, the summer heat, non-air-conditioned facility, Covid restrictions. Can you feel the sweat down your back? While the heat and Covide restrictions alone were a challenge, the build was also quite unique.

The objective was to build a mezzanine that included a modular building –ok, interesting enough, but the real challenge came in setting the mezzanine over an existing production line. The production line had eight cells, and the mezzanine needed to span the entire area of approximately 40’. Typically, when constructing a mezzanine, we use forklifts to bring in and place the beams, but because of the pick lines below, we needed to use an overhead hoist hooked to the building beams to manage the build. The hoist managed the 30’ beams to build the mezzanine. 

Still, on another project –after completing a mezzanine build to the customer’s satisfaction, they realized they needed more capacity than the floor decking was rated to hold. After considering all options, we replaced the decking to give them the required load capacity. That’s the type of over and above you get from WOI.

Downtime is Still Active for this Marine & His Family

Personal life for Chris involves family time, the lake, and their boat. He also enjoys playing golf and riding his motorcycle. Customers may not know that Chris is a Marine who served as an Explosives Engineer –so maybe he’s not the best one to call if you lock yourself out of your car –or is he?
